Dial-A-Song is a service that They Might Be Giants has had almost since they first formed. It's basically just an answering machine that plays an exclusive TMBG song. When it's set up, that is. The service started back when TMBG's heavy gigging around the hopping early 80's NYC punk scene hit an unexpected snag when Linnell broke his wrist in a biking accident and Flansburgh had his new Brooklyn apartment thoroughly burglarized. Despite being unable to gig, they wanted to keep the band's momentum going, and Dial-A-Song seemed like just the thing.
