i can't help but think that instead of this being nine slices long, it should have been 3x3. the length killed any potential for continuity, not to mention making it less interesting to view.

with that said, damon f'ing rocked the house on this one. it's not quite seamless, but dear god...how long did that take you?

I think the 9 segment strip was a cool experiment. Maybe on large ones we /could/ use a little help with continuity? Perhaps we choose a theme or subject, like "blue" or "character" or whatever. Not quite true to the forefather's of the corpsing, but hey, we're breaking new ground here.

Also, 3x3 would rock... as well as other unconventional shapes. How about "plus sign" or "stair step"?

How long did it take? Too long, to see the complete botch of a transition... That's what happens when I spend too much time fiddling with effects and trying to be clever with the blend.

As far as the imagery, the main image is a painting by Mark Henson. It was printed on a 20'x30' ft vinyl banner that was draped over the side of a building... thus the guy looking up and the pedestrian signal.

I'll have to keep it simpler the next time...

I don't think the problem was the length. Each person has to pass some solid connections to the next, who has to read them carefully and extend them. I think the game is actually easier if every piece is a line drawing, just like the original paper game.

Interesting.

Jacob- I agree, it is easier. It would be more difficult to blend two sides to each slice. But it would also provide more of a chance for the slices to relate to one another. Also, what fun is it if we stick to the old formats? Art is about innovation. (Prime example: http://www.exquisitemtv.com is freaking rocking.)

At any rate, the biggest complaint I have with the length is more from an ease of viewing standpoint than anything else. 3x3 would allow people to see most of the piece without completely scrolling past the whole thing. Alternately, it would be nice if there were some kind of thumbnail option, although as small as these are already, I'm not sure I even like that.

Whatever. I'm a woman. I reserve all rights to be impossible to please.

Damon- I'd be curious to see the original image. I had been working on the assumption that the collage was an original. I wonder if it's online...I'll have to look.

Also, I think the theme idea had been thrown around a bit. I'm not sure why we haven't yet done one....T? Care to enlighten the masses?

I guess this would be a good time to credit dobi.nu for yonder devil.

addition- i just googled mark henson (http://www.sacredlight.to/) and am impressed. his work reminds me a bit of this, even. one-person corpse-ing, if you will. that would make this meta-corpse-ing, no? nice.

also- another collage oriented artist that i've recently discovered is romare bearden (http://www.beardenfoundation.org/artofbearden/collage/collage.html). i'd be curious to know what kinds of art you all enjoy as well...where your influences come from, etc. it may seem trivial, but this is actual art that we're producing...
